My Cosy Little Nook for Writing and Working

I thought I’d share one of my favourite little spots to write, work, read, and unwind. Maybe you’re looking for some inspiration to create your own cosy nook for working from home? I hope this post gives you a few ideas, or perhaps you just fancy a little peek at the space where I love to spend time. I always enjoy seeing where others create!

We wanted to make the conservatory into a cosy space that felt like a proper room, and somewhere we could enjoy sitting any time of the day. Since it’s a smaller space, we wanted to make the most of every bit of it. So a couple of summers ago, we decided to decorate in here. I did the painting myself (we used paint from Farrow & Ball). We wanted something bright yet earthy to complement our little garden and feel more connected to the natural world around us. We also wanted to keep costs down and do everything as affordably as possible.

The sofa was one we’d already been using in another room but no longer needed. We then found two lovely upcycled chairs on Facebook Marketplace, covered in beautiful William Morris fabric. The antique chest came from one of our favourite local shops in Lichfield, called Bespoke, which sells a range of wonderful handmade items by local artists. This particular piece was beautifully upcycled by KM Studios.

We found a lovely wooden magazine rack in one of our local charity shops. The lamp is from IKEA, and the cushions (which match the paint colours perfectly) are from John Lewis. The rug is from Dunelm, and the large floral jug came from Tobias Interiors, an online shop that sold beautifully collected antique pieces.

We also have a few special pieces that have been passed down through my husband David’s family, adding a personal touch to the space. One of our best purchases has definitely been a Dyson heater… it keeps us warm and cosy during the winter and cool in the warmer months when we need it. To make the room feel even cosier, we added some fairy lights around the window sill, creating a soft, inviting glow in the evenings.

I love sitting and working in this space because it looks out onto our garden and the large trees beyond the fence. It’s such a peaceful view, and I enjoy watching the birds that come to visit, along with the cheeky squirrels. We’ve also added a little window feeder for the birds, which definitely keeps things lively and entertaining!

In the evenings, we like to cosy up here together, maybe watching a DVD or catching up on some shows. We often light a candle to create a warm, relaxing atmosphere. We’ve been enjoying one from Evoqua, which has such a lovely, calming fragrance.

Do you have a cosy nook where you love to work or relax? I’d love to hear all about it!
